Welcome to the Enlighten Chinese School (ECS) and thank you for your interest in our institution!
ECS's educational program offers classes on Chinese language (Mandarin) and culture education using simplified Chinese character and Pin Yin (Chinese phonic system). Students gain a global perspective and obtain skills that enable them to communicate with a wide range of people, appreciate other culture, become flexible thinkers and enrich their lives.
Enlighten offers 2 kinds of classes, CHL( Chinese as the Heritage Language) and CFL( Chinese as the Foreign Language). CHL is for students come from families which use Chinese as the first language at home. They have chance to communicate with family members and parents in Chinese. We offer grade Pre-K to AP (Grade 10) for CHL classes. The CFL class is for students come from families which use other language as the first language. We offer grade K to 6 for CFL classes. There're 3 quarters each school year, and 11 classes each quarter. We meet at Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm - 5:10pm for CHL classes, and Sunday morning 9:00am - 12:40pm for CFL classes. Besides offer Mandarin classes, we also encourage parents and high school students run various school club to service our community. Currently we have Chess Club, Love Chinese Culture Club, which are run by parents and Chinese school current students.
We mainly server the area of San Jose, Los Gatos, Saratoga and Cupertino. The mission of ECS is to provide outstanding second language education, preparing children to become responsible and engaged citizens of the world.
ECS's programs are challenging and each child needs the full support of his or her parents to perform at the level expected of them by the school. Learning Chinese with the goal of achieving native-like fluency and literacy requires an ongoing commitment of time and dedication, with benefits that will last your child a lifetime.
